Day of the Dead – A Celebration of Life!

Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, gained new attention with the younger generation when the movie “Coco” came out a few years ago. We all recall this movie with its catchy songs, bright colors, and heartfelt message that brought out the best of the Mexican culture while giving us a glimpse into the meaning behind this tradition.  Although this early November holiday is familiar to many, […]

Creating a Love and Logic Environment at School (and Home!)

Spanish Schoolhouse uses the Love and Logic® methodology to help promote healthy teacher-student relationships and positive school-wide discipline. The main goal of Love and Logic is to teach respect, self-respect, personal responsibility, and cooperation.  We use “love” in building positive relationships with the children, and allow the “logic” of natural consequences to do the teaching.

Giving Thanks and Giving Back: Learning through Community Service

The best way to learn is by doing! This November, as we do each year, our Spanish Schoolhouse students are undertaking hands-on service projects to benefit those in need. Learning about community service is a focus throughout the month. Every school chooses one or more organizations/causes to support. The children love to learn about others and are so eager to help. Their giving hearts are truly an inspiration to us all!

She’s the bubbly, energetic star (and creator/editor) of this year’s SSH Preschool English videos!  We […]

Preschool Uniforms: A Good Fit!

“They’re only in preschool!  Why do they need to wear uniforms?!”  If you’re a new SSH parent, this thought may have crossed your mind. It can certainly be fun dressing preschoolers (or watching what they choose on their own).  However, shopping for outfits they’ll agree to wear and then convincing them to wear them on cue can be challenging! School uniforms may have pros and cons, but after years of […]
